Job Title : Sales Lead – Wholesale

Preferred Location: New York City (Hybrid)

Position Summary: Magnolia Bakery is seeking an experienced and strategic Sales Lead to lead the expansion of our frozen dessert categories (Banana Pudding, Brownies, Blondies, Cupcakes, Seasonal In-and-Outs, etc...). This role will focus on driving sales growth, managing broker, distributor and customer relationships, and developing business partnerships across the frozen dessert portfolio within non-traditional retail/alternative channels like Airport/Airline, Cruise, College & University, Convenience, Specialty Retail, Online and Wholesale customers. The ideal candidate will have experience in some or most of these channels, a proven track record in business development, and experience managing cross-functional teams and brokers to drive results.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Strategy, Cross-Functional Alignment and Execution

  • Lead and implement the sales strategy for Magnolia Bakery's frozen dessert portfolio within key alternative, non-traditional distribution and customer channels.
  • Build and execute distribution targets, promotion plans, and sales presentations, leveraging data to drive growth.
  • Manage customer sales forecasts, profitability, and trade spend while ensuring alignment with overall company strategy.

New Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to drive growth and expand the client base.
  • Develop and implement strategies that open new markets and channels, contributing to the overall growth objectives of Magnolia Bakery’s Frozen CPG products.
  • Attend trade shows as needed and conduct market visits to build relationships and represent Magnolia Bakery with key customers.

Customer and Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, brokers, and distributors.
  • Oversee distributor relationships and partner closely with Supply Chain & Operations to monitor inventory management, including promotional plans and SKU performance.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners, ensuring timely and accurate updates regarding annual operating plans.
  • Manage and develop Account Manager direct report(s).

Broker Management

  • Oversee and manage broker relationships, ensuring alignment with company and sales channel objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate broker performance against established KPIs, driving accountability and ensuring successful execution of sales strategies across all channels in the baked fresh frozen dessert category.

Operations and Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Prepare and track sales forecasts, ensuring alignment with budget and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product development, and finance to align sales efforts with annual operating plan.
  • Manage monthly budget reconciliation, trade budgets, and cost negotiations at the customer level.
  • Conduct ROI analysis in partnership with FP&A to ensure the financial viability of customer accounts and promotional campaigns.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience with premium or specialty food brands.
  • Strong network of contacts within the non-traditional retail, specialty and wholesale industry.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in food business development, with a focus on channels listed and building recurring books of business.
  • Experience managing brokers and third-party sales agents.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a track record of closing high-value deals.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing direct reports and fostering team growth.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, coworkers, and management.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Position requires standing and walking for period of 3-5 hours without a rest break.
  • Occasional moderate to heavy lifting and carrying, bending, and reaching overhead may be required.

Compensation: Competitive Salary + Bonus + Benefits

Salary Range: $100,000 - $115,000 USD
