GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, manages general accounting activities to include accounts receivable, financial reporting, accounting reconciliation and general accounting. Also includes assisting with Finance Committee work, board reporting and working with audit and tax firms and other external constituencies as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:

  1. Support Controller in managing accounting and financial reporting activities of the organization.
    1. Provide backup in daily AP activities as needed
    2. Ensure a timely and accurate month end close
      1. Monthly bank reconciliations
      2. Other Balance Sheet account reconciliations (AR and AP)
      3. Monthly deferred income and expense recording and reconciliation
    3. Produce monthly financial statements and operating statements for departmental managers; provide guidance to managers as needed.
    4. Maintain accounting software setup and account coding; approves new general ledger accounts and income/expense codes
  2. Assist Controller in the budgeting and reforecasting process and ensure production of budgets that are approved by the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
    1. Work with Controller in scheduling meetings with departmental managers
    2. Develop timelines, templates and consolidate into the accounting system
    3. Ensure Reforecasts are produced timely and accurately
  3. Assist Controller in production of slides for Finance Committee and Board meetings; be able to provide answers to questions on financials and budgets as needed
  4. Assist in producing periodic cash flow forecasts and other analytical reporting as needed to help senior leadership guide the organization; provide expertise in projecting cash flow income and expense
  5. Provide financial support to other departments including the fulfillment of ad hoc requests
    1. Reports and documentation for grants and contracts
    2. Assist departmental managers in adherence to grant/contract mandates
  6. Assist Controller in managing the CRM system and reporting
    1. Manage and provide investment reporting and analysis
      1. Monthly statistical reports on sales and retention
      2. Monthly reports showing the status of collections
    2. Process and record AR activities accurately and timely
    3. Provide billings/invoices for dues, networks and ad hoc requests
    4. Manage trade transactions and reporting
    5. Assist in leading finance department efforts in assisting with collections; work with CEO in determining collections assignments
  7. Maintain and ensure adherence to organization's financial policies and procedures; recommend updates as needed
  8. Assist in production of 990 tax returns and ensuring a clean audit with no adverse comments
  9. Manage Payroll and 401k process; includes recording records in accounting software
    1. Review and approve bi-weekly payroll for submission
    2. Perform bi-weekly 401k and 457b contribution activity ensuring accurate data and reconciliation with payroll system
    3. Produce period reporting to maintain organizational compliance with federal, state and local mandates as well as with retirement plan management (ACCE)
  10. Obtain and maintain broker/producer license in support of GLI Budget Solutions activities (candidate will have time to prep for exam)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in accounting. Three to five years of experience in accounting with a CPA license (preferred). A combination of education and experience (six years or more) may be substituted when proficiency is demonstrated.
