Position Overview :

The Instrument and Electrical Engineer (IEE) is part of the St. Gabriel engineering team. The Instrument and Electrical Engineer will be the main source of technical expertise for all levels of the organization on Instrument/Electrical issues. The plant is computer controlled, it has 1,300 instruments, with over 50 nuclear sources. All instruments operate in high hazard and corrosive environments.

Main Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for all aspects of the instrument and electrical systems, ensuring the site meets all relevant company and statutory requirements. The position involves responsibility for all areas of instrumentation and electrical systems, as required in the SHE and Group Engineering Procedures.
  • Work closely with both the Production Team and Technical Team to ensure the reliability and continuous improvement of the instrument and electrical system.
  • Plant in-line analysis is a critical aspect of the position. The plant relies heavily on analysis, from pH measurements in challenging situations to state-of-the-art Infra-Red analysis.
  • Manage all minor site projects, utilizing both on-site and off-site resources to deliver multi-disciplined designs.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED :

  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience dealing with vendors at senior level.
  • Highly developed problem solving and mathematical skills.

EDUCATION REQUIRED :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer in a petrochemical environment.
  • Maintenance and testing of safety shutdown systems and high voltage electrical equipment.
  • Preferred experiences include the use and programming of Distributed Control Systems.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in design in a petrochemical environment.
