In this pivotal role, you will lead efforts to analyze solar energy data and other key metrics to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of energy systems across the United States. As a Software Engineer focused on the Energy industry, you will design and develop state-of-the-art software solutions to collect, process, and interpret vast datasets from diverse energy sources. You will collaborate with energy experts, data scientists, and other engineering professionals to identify inefficiencies, propose optimization strategies, and support policy initiatives that lead to more sustainable practices.

This hybrid position could be located from Raleigh NC or Orlando FL, but preference will be given to those who will work from our Orlando, FL office.

Hybrid Schedule: 3 Days in the Office, 2 Days Remote from Primary Residence

Responsibilities

  1. Plans, conducts, and develops solutions to resolve complex technical problems.
  2. Contributes to the building and integration of software applications.
  3. Analyzes, designs, develops, modifies, writes, edits, and implements complex software applications.
  4. Analyzes and defines software requirements to determine specifications and standards.
  5. Proposes and implements standard software solutions.
  6. Develops, designs, and edits original applications, or modifies third-party applications.
  7. Documents procedures that were followed to develop an application or component of an application.
  8. Serves as a technical leader for moderately complex software projects.
  9. Participates in professional and personal development aligned with career goals.
  10. Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and VHB policies and procedures.

Skills & Knowledge

  1. Extensive experience and knowledge of development environments, frameworks, including Angular.
  2. C# and .Net Core with Entity Framework.
  3. Azure DevOps and Jira.
  4. SQL Server Management Studio.
  5. Experience with Agile Development practices.
  6. Git.
  7. GIS experience with Esri JavaScript and/or REST APIs is a requirement.
  8. Significant experience with relational database management systems, including MS SQL Server.
  9. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
  10. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  11. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  12. Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with coworkers.
  13. Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented.
  14. Skills and knowledge must be commensurate with required experience and job level.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. 3-5 years of software engineering experience in the energy Industry.
  2. Domain knowledge of ESRI's product platform (Desktop, Pro, ArcPy, ArcGIS Enterprise, AGOL, Portal, ESRI Javascript API, WebApp Builder, etc.).
  3. Experience in Python and SQL.
  4. Knowledge of GIS/geospatial workflows (geostatistical analysis, geoprocessing, geocoding).
  5. BS in Computer Science, Engineering, GIS, Geography or equivalent discipline.
