SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Chief of Strategic Initiatives, coordinates the work of the Department of Student and Data Systems. Delegates, supervises, and deploys staff as necessary to meet the application development, deployment, and support needs of core systems, including the student information system, data warehouse, and other systemwide student and data systems. The primary function of this position is to lead the ongoing work of procuring, configuring, monitoring, and deploying enterprise student data solutions, including those that support scheduling, grading and reporting, student enrollment, state reporting data, student information, data archiving, data dashboards and reporting. This position aligns the priorities of the department with the vision of the office and coordinates the work of this department with the other departments within the Office of Strategic Initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
The director of Student Data Systems shall have demonstrated the skills and ability to manage both projects and staff, implement and integrate purchased or developed solutions, and model effective customer management practices. The director will confer with the office's leadership and staff in developing a clearly defined and articulated vision for how the department's enterprise software development and integration should be conducted. Knowledge and administration of the school system's employee professional growth systems is an essential element in the director's work to develop, empower, and provide timely feedback to staff. The director must possess a strong work ethic, effective communication skills and a commitment to nurturing productive relationships with staff, colleagues, customers, and partners. Knowledge of a variety of technology architectures, software development lifecycle, application security, project/process management, and the operations of a large public school system is essential. Knowledge of a variety of instructional software architecture and solutions. Knowledge and application of the three MCPS Professional Growth Systems (PGS).

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in technology or related discipline from an accredited college or university, with a Master's preferred. Significant experience in managing complex programs of services and support to users and in developing new technology solutions to meet changing customer needs. Experience with student data systems, deploying large-scale enterprise solutions on time and on budget. Proven experience in leading teams and in managing people. Experience with PowerBI, Synergy, and TabularCube preferred. Familiarity with the MCPS Professional Growth Systems evaluation criteria and procedures.
