Job Requirements / Description

BryceTech has an immediate opening for a Flight Software SME who has SME with expertise in software operating on SVs and associated flight hardware. This person will provide technical expertise to the SVV LSEs for oversight/insight and assistance to the primes and bus providers for their flight software development process and testing. The candidate will have experience in satellite and ground operations and leverage this to ensure multiple vendor’s software and hardware designs will be successfully integrated through a common ground operations control station. The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

  • Have a deep understanding of the working code base of SUPERNOVA and all internal, external interfacing components.
  • Have expertise across the entire Sys Eng V
  • Be knowledgeable on all SDA Tranche system components from an architecture and technical level. Design, develop, integrate and test flight software systems in the space domain
  • Technical and analytic understanding of satellite flight software system interaction
  • Experience in systems engineering
  • Experience DoD and or IC customers

Individuals will support various engineering, scientific, analysis, policy, planning, and program management of Defense space activities. Specific tasks may include:

  • Create use cases used in development of the flight software
  • Integrate software with hardware components to ensure seamless integration and operation
  • Ensure software meets quality performance standards
  • Work with spacecraft vendors for development of flight software
  • Participate in Agile development processes.
  • Coordinate the development of satellite system requirements; develop enterprise, system, functional, performance, and interface requirements; and consider the impact of the satellites’ requirements to the ground system, including ground entry point acquisitions, operations center set up and maintenance, and ground software solutions
  • Works with development teams at the messaging and system function level to ensure all equities of design are in working order end-to-end, and translate well to inform testing and checkout for promotion through DevSecOps.
  • Assess technical maturity and risk of necessary changes and updates to ground systems to enable overall architecture capabilities
  • Oversee integration and test of satellites into the SDA’s ground system network design and with the other satellite vendors to create a mesh network
  • Maintains active awareness of baseline requirements, interfaces, and integration touchpoints to ensure the system progresses through all milestones and the Tranche achieves operations, transition, and system closure.
  • Applies problem solving skills to identify and respond to system gaps. Proactively develop enterprise, system, functional, performance, and interface requirements
  • Assess necessary changes and updates to flight software systems to enable overall architecture capabilities
  • Coordinate with modeling and simulation teams to assess impacts to the architecture
  • Review engineering documents and provide SME support,
  • Support the SDA’s Program Management and Systems Engineering team
  • Resolve highly complex and multi-dimensional problems requiring consideration of variables that impact multiple aspects of the project/program
  • Incorporate Joint Warfighter, Mission Partners and internal SDA team’s feedback and input on product strategy and identify the best path to improve efficiencies
  • Support application product managers and coordinate cross-functional teams (i.e. Government, Military, SETA, FFRDC, UARC, & Industry)

Qualifications

  • Domain knowledge of flight software systems (guidance, navigation, control, etc.)
  • Expertise in space vehicle and flight hardware software components
  • Experience creating software use cases via systems engineering best practices
  • Experience writing flight software test plans
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices
  • A bachelor's of science/STEM degree from an accredited college or university is required
  • Minimum fifteen years' recent and relevant experience
  • Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • TS/SCI Eligible

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in science, technology, engineering and math
  • Desired Years of Experience: 15+ with cloud infrastructure, software application, and design
  • SME expertise in satellite flight software
  • Current experience with space systems
