Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Nurse Navigator - Radiation Medicine Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Mid 5x8-Hour (13:00 - 21:30); Day 5x8-Hour (12:00 - 20:30); rotating Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum of 2 years required; must have completed at least 1 travel assignment License: Must have DC license in hand Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - Care and management of ports- Central Line/Implanted Line Care- Starting IVs- Experience with Acute Tumor Lysis Syndrome, Anaphylaxis, Extravasation injury, Hemorrhage, Sepsis, Spinal Cord Compression, Neutropenic precautions- Tracheostomy care/management- External Radiation therapy (Teletherapy), Radiation safety precautions- Wound Care- Knowledge of conditions such as altered mental status, constipation/diarrhea, dysphagia, edema, nausea/vomiting, neuropathy- Office duties including chart preparation, handling disability forms, and pharmacy calls Job Description: - Serve as a Nurse Navigator for patients undergoing radiation therapy.- Provide essential care to cancer patients, focusing on education, skincare/wound care, and assessment of radiation toxicity.- Perform telephone triage and start IVs as needed for adult patients.- Monitor and address any concerning signs or symptoms, consulting with attending physicians, residents, or emergency services as necessary.- Handle charting using Cerner.- Comply with vaccination requirements, including the mandatory flu vaccine.- Complete orientation and necessary modules, with recorded transcripts. Preferred Skills: - Radiation Oncology experience Additional Information: - Flu vaccine required. No exemptions allowed.- Two (2) supervisor references required.
