Vaco in Atlanta is currently looking for a Manufacturing/Industrial Product Engineer that will lead and execute New Product development (NPD) and design for the full range of products for our local client. The focus of the role is on metals and composites but will support all products within the company. This role is responsible for all new product development and design, creating and maintaining specifications, leading cost improvement projects and supporting the optimization of the portfolio.
**Candidates MUST be located in the metro Atlanta as this is a HYBRID role with 2-3 days in-office/week.**

What you will be doing:

  • Responsible for designing, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. Generates engineering designs, performs design analysis, and recommends and implements product alterations to improve features and benefits as defined by front end marketing team/customers.
  • Execute the engineering, design and testing of products in the new product development (NPD) projects within the stage gate framework while working within a cross-functional team from concept to commercialization.
  • Establishes, documents and maintains all product specifications (targets and tolerances) and process specs for new products.
  • Detailed part drawings, assemblies and successfully completing documentation for new products.
  • Support the field and customers with drawings and engineering support as needed.
  • Create snow system layouts and take-offs based on structural engineering standards and perform snow load calculations. Recommend products based on application to customers and the sales team.
  • Ensure the product meets or exceeds expectations from a cost, timing, and specification standpoint while working with Marketing, Industrial Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain.
  • Develops deep knowledge of materials, products, processes, equipment, and standards to be able to deliver on project objectives with speed and urgency.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience in Aluminum, Steel or Copper-based products and associated metal works processes is preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA is required.
  • Knowledge of Six-Sigma, Stage-Gate, and Designing, running, and analyzing DOE's is preferred.
  • Must be detail oriented and possess problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated fluency with WORD, EXCEL, and PowerPoint are required.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites and manufacturing locations up to 20% of the time.
