JRAD is seeking candidates for a Senior Human Factors Engineer position supporting the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). This position is eligible for telework.
Roles/Responsibilities:
- Candidate will work for the TSA's Office of Security Capabilities to support the Human Performance Branch
- Will work as part of a team to provide end-to-end research support including literature reviews, writing test plans, processing and analyzing data (R or SPSS), coding studies (PsychoPy or other languages/tools), and writing reports.
- May develop and implement strategies to guide requirements for transportation security protocols, procedures, and equipment.
- Current topics of interest include face matching, image interpretation, optimization of human performance, image manipulation, task switching, among others.
- This role includes a telework or fully remote option (although preference will be given to local candidates)
- This role has the opportunity for publication in academic conferences.
Required Skills and Education:
All HF Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) must possess the following:
- PhD preferred (e.g., Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction) OR Master's plus five years of experience in a Human Factors work position OR a Bachelor's degree in a Human Factors related field with ten years of experience in a Human Factors work position
- Experience in experimental design and methodology with the ability to provide end-to-end research support.
- Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Knowledge of statistical methods and analytic procedures is required.
- Topics include: Examining relationships with imperfect data sources; Experience using both parametric and non-parametric statistical methods; Experience conducting statistical process control, data collection and data mining procedures; Experience analyzing focus group data related to human factors considerations to uncover user requirements for systems under development
- Experience providing Human Factors Engineering input, advice, and counsel to groups of stakeholders and/or IPTs. Acting as a human factors technical point of contact on projects, programs, and other work activities
- Preference for knowledge and experience with Transportation Security domain
- Candidates must be eligible for security clearance and be able to pass the Department of Homeland Security's financial responsibility standards
