AJC’s New England office is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Assistant Director. The position offers an exceptional opportunity to participate in AJC’s global advocacy program and become a part of a dynamic regional operation. AJC New England is seeking a highly motivated and strategically minded Assistant Director, who is dedicated to AJC’s work and committed to excellence in all s/he does.
The New England AJC office is the region’s premier global Jewish advocacy organization dedicated to securing the freedom and safety of Jews and other vulnerable peoples in the United States, Israel and around the world. To advance this purpose, AJC New England promotes a program that merges innovative advocacy with diplomatic, legislative, and community engagement.
The Assistant Director will play an important role in advancing AJC New England’s strategic interests. The successful candidate will be a resourceful leader, who welcomes a demanding role and exhibits pride and professionalism in his or her work.
The Assistant Director will provide strong leadership for the management and implementation of office campaigns, major events, and other programs. In addition, the Assistant Director will coordinate with staff and lay teams to ensure that events and initiatives are effectively coordinated with our development, communications, advocacy, and leadership activity.
The Assistant Director will also have training and presentation skills that will support AJC initiatives focused on antisemitism education, K-12 educational outreach, and community engagement.
Finally, the Assistant Director will serve as a liaison to Jewish communal institutions and support partnerships outside of the Jewish world.
In addition, the Assistant Director will be expected to:
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and execution of the department's strategy, goals, objectives, and action plans.
- Manage and facilitate advocacy and outreach programs, projects, initiatives, events, meetings, training, and/or missions.
- Implement new opportunities to expand departmental initiatives beyond existing programs.
- May participate and support the work of Boards, committees, task forces, or working groups.
- Leverage resources to help build awareness of and support for the AJC and department initiatives.
- May assist with development efforts, including participation in fundraising initiatives and plans, donor outreach, providing materials for grant applications and reports, and related activities.
- Maintain and manage programmatic spending for initiatives they work on.
- Research, monitor, and report on developments, issues, and trends impacting the department and AJC priorities.
- Coordinate, attend, and/or lead meetings.
- Develop relationships with and engage strategic contacts, groups, and organizations.
- Support the building of coalitions, partnerships, and initiatives with organizations and other external partners to further AJC’s mission.
- Assist in representing AJC and the department in the community, at functions, and in other public forums.
- Draft, edit, and disseminate communications resources and materials.
Education, Training and Experience
- Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience and intermediate job skills and knowledge
