Job Summary: Manages nursing and administrative operations in specific patient care areas. Implements changes to patient workflows and operational processes. Maintains 24 hour line management responsibility for the administration of fiscal, material and human resources. Direct reports are typically supervisor level.

Required Qualifications:

• 4-5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience with patient care clinical standards and care delivery systems, external regulations and internal policies.
• Demonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services. Knowledge to manage disaster incidents, critical events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to create and maintain a climate for effective communication and collaborative decision making.
• Strong leadership, fiscal and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management and staff from all disciplines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates to convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner.
• Knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes.
• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments.
• Flexibility to work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
• Knowledge of Hospital operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters Degree in Nursing or relevant area.
• Recent leadership role in a large inpatient environment.
• Knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in nursing units/departments.
• Float Pool, Critical care or Transitional Care/Stepdown/Progressive Care experience in an academic medical center.

License/Certification:

• Registered Nurse in the State of California.
• Bachelors Degree in Nursing.
• American Heart Association BLS - Active.
• American Heart Association ACLS - Active.

Shift: Variable (Monday-Friday, Weekends, variable days, evenings, nights)
