Summary

The Margaret M. and Albert B. Alkek Department of Medicine is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. This individual will provide strategic leadership to a nationally recognized division, fostering excellence in patient care, research, and education. The successful candidate will work closely with departmental leadership to shape the future of gastroenterology and hepatology at one of the nation's leading academic medical centers.

Job Duties

  • Lead and manage the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, overseeing clinical operations, research programs, and educational initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance patient care, expand clinical services, and promote innovation in the field.
  • Foster a culture of excellence and collaboration among faculty, fellows, and staff.
  • Advance the division's research portfolio, promoting cutting-edge investigations in gastroenterology and hepatology.
  • Mentor and support faculty development, recruitment, and retention efforts.
  • Oversee the training and education of residents, fellows, and medical students in the division.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including affiliated hospitals and healthcare organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements and uphold the highest standards of clinical care.

Minimum Qualifications

  • M.D. or equivalent medical degree.
  • Board Certified or Board eligible.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Texas.
  • Proven experience in leadership within an academic medical center, with a demonstrated record of achievement in clinical care, research, and education.
  • A track record of fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and promoting a culture of innovation.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in academic medicine.
