Job Description
Under supervision within the Financial Policy Division, this position is in Municipal Marketing and Public Private Partnerships and performs specialized research and moderately complex analytical work to assess and report on the city's financial condition, and performs related duties as required. These functions largely relate to work on existing agreements, including but not limited to, Chicago parking meters, the Street Furniture Program Agreement, Skyway Concession Agreement and special projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Prepares tables, charts, and graphs to summarize findings and prepare narrative reports to explain data results
  • Monitors, analyzes, and reports on the City's actual and projected financial status and/or specific financial programs
  • Develops simple to complex financial forecasts or models to project or determine future financial positions
  • Meets and works with internal staff and third parties to resolve technical problems
  • Extracts, indexes, merges, and manipulates large and multiple data sets into database sources
  • Performs technical, analytical, and data auditing functions using commercial and proprietary software applications
  • Performs quality reviews and validates converted information in preparation for database creation
  • Prepares tables, charts, and graphs to summarize findings and prepare narrative reports to explain data results
  • Tracks and manages information and data requests from various sources and ensures expectations and deadlines are met
  • Converts data and images into various formats
  • Efficiently and effectively manages data to ensure quality and accessible reporting
  • Identifies variances and long-term trends relative to City revenues and expenditures
  • Completes special projects as necessary

Residency Requirement: All employees of the City of Chicago must be actual residents of the City upon their start date as outlined in 2-152-050 of the City of Chicago Municipal Code. Proof of residency will be required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a directly related field; AND
  • three (3) years of fiscal policy analysis experience; OR
  • an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, provided that the minimum degree requirement is met.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
  • Previous work experience in data analysis and creating reports
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with statistical modeling software
