Azure Cloud Data Architect-Director (San Francisco, CA)

Urgently need Azure cloud architect:

• Architect and lead the build-out of platform on Azure & migration from on-prem systems.
• Understand the existing on-prem technology landscape & implementations and recommend the best strategy & solutions to deliver on cloud.
• Design and build large scale data storage, compute and distribution systems.
• Evaluate, select, and implement new tools and frameworks to expand our platform capabilities.
• Provide data engineers, quant engineers and researchers with technical advice and guidance on the best data practices on cloud.
• Build relationships and partner with core architecture & engineering teams across BlackRock.
• Mentor and upskill fellow team members.
• Work across time zones in a distributed team.

Good to have:

• A solid understanding of cloud data platforms/services such as Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Informatica IICS, Databricks etc.
• Expert knowledge of data modelling and understanding of different data stores and their benefits and limitations under particular use cases.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python. Knowledge of Java, Scala and distributed technologies such as Spark, Kubernetes is a plus.
• Desire to build deep expertise in cloud native technologies and design of applications.
