External Reporting North America has an opening on its team for a Tax Accountant. This is a great opportunity to join an organization and team to build the tax and financial reporting experience necessary to take the next step in your career. Reporting directly to the Controller North America, you will have the unique opportunity to learn the necessary skills required to be successful in this role. You will be part of a team responsible for the regulatory reporting of three Property & Casualty reinsurance companies as well as additional entities within the U.S. holding company structure. This role will give you the opportunity to work with personnel across all levels and locations of the organization. About the role:
- Responsible for the Company's U.S. subsidiaries and Canadian Branch income tax accounting including ASC 740 tax provision calculations, effective tax rate analyses, deferred tax analysis and reconciliations, and FIN 48 Tax Reserve analysis. Assisting the external reporting team with tax compliance (i.e. income tax, FET, SALT, etc)
- Responsible for the Company's U.S. subsidiaries and Canadian Branch income tax accounting for reinsurance regulatory purposes under SSAP No. 101 principles and Canadian IFRS, respectively.
- Working closely with other finance department members, external tax consultants and auditors to manage income tax processes and projects. This includes the opportunity to work with the Company's Group Tax team to identify and implement tax planning and risk mitigation strategies.
- Assist with managing the income tax filing process including managing the external tax filing preparers.
- Assist in the coordination and analysis of local quarterly and annual regulatory filings including the Annual/Quarterly Statements to the NAIC/State Regulators, Annual/Quarterly Statement to OSFI (Canadian Regulator)
- Assist in the preparation of the annual Audited Financial Statements on a USSTAT basis and IFRS (Canada) basis, including close coordination with external auditors
- Ensure accuracy checks and documents are completed with the highest quality and on a timely basis and all controls are completed
- Support Group projects working with various co-workers located in other PartnerRe locations
About you:
- College/University Degree in Accounting is required
- At minimum of 2 to 4 years of tax and accounting experience
- Knowledge of USGAAP accounting standards. USSTAT (SSAP) and IFRS (Canada) knowledge a plus.
- General understanding of insurance/reinsurance concepts and statutory requirements
- Strong working experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) and wDesk
- Excellent communication (written and oral) skills
- Strong attention to detail and deadlines
- Strong work ethic and always stiving for improvement
