The Position: The Director of Workforce Development is a full-time 12-month position that will provide academic leadership, direction, and support to Career and Technical Education programs. The Director is responsible for visioning, planning, and directing career and workforce education programming; reviewing grant opportunities; coordinating and monitoring projects; and ensuring compliance within regulatory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans, directs, organizes, and manages the administration of high-quality workforce education.
- Aligns and coordinates the efforts of other career education and employer engagement efforts.
- Serves as the college lead with respect to the Strong Workforce Program.
- Establishes and maintains shared data systems to facilitate information sharing.
- Develops and solicits grants and external funding sources.
- Initiates and supports the development of career and workforce programs.
- Meets with faculty and staff to review new grant opportunities.
- Serves as a college liaison to career and technical education groups.
- Implements District rules and regulations as required.
- Manages Strong Workforce Program and CTE funds.
- Serves as an active member of the College administrative team.
- Directs, coordinates, and participates in planning.
- Analyzes business and industry trends.
- Promotes career and workforce development.
- Participates in a variety of committee and staff meetings.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a Master’s degree or above from an accredited institution in a related field OR the equivalent.
- One year of formal training or leadership experience related to community college career and technical education.
- Demonstrated cultural competence and understanding of diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of community college career and technical education practices.
- Knowledge of program development and management.
- Ability to think innovatively and encourage faculty and staff innovation.
- Skill in the development and assessment of program outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
- Understanding of and commitment to the role of community college.
- Knowledge of federal regulations and accreditation.
