As the Chief of Staff (CoS) to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), you will provide confidential and trusted organizational and strategic support to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Chief of Staff to the CEO

Works under the administrative supervision of the CEO.

Serves in the Office of the CEO in the Headquarters Office. Will require travel to different Airports Authority physical locations.

As a member of the Executive Office leadership team, provides confidential and trusted organizational and strategic support to the CEO. Uses initiative and works independently to research and track various issues, projects, and programs requiring executive action or input; develops and maintains relationships with Board members and their staffs, Authority Vice Presidents and their direct reports, and other contacts, to facilitate progress or resolve such issues, projects, and programs on behalf of the Executive Office; and keeps the CEO informed of critical concerns, progress or deadlines. Manages the administrative operations of the Executive Office, including preparing and monitoring the Office budget, and supervising administrative staff.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Serves as liaison with staff, executives, senior leaders, and CEO regarding project updates, proposals, planning, budget, employee well-being, etc.
  2. Oversees strategic business initiatives, from development through successful execution, under the guidance of senior leadership and department heads.
  3. Assists and communicates with executives in decision-making, program management, and initiative implementation.
  4. Attends meetings, presentations, or other functions involving the CEO and may represent the CEO in his/her absence at such events. Ensures that the CEO is sufficiently prepared for such events, including preparation of any hardcopy or electronic materials. May actively participate in such meetings, if appropriate. May take notes on behalf of the CEO, distribute materials, and provide other staff support in conducting these meetings.
  5. Oversees daily operations in collaboration with senior managers and department leaders, and performs administrative tasks such as managing calendars, generating correspondence, maintaining hard copies and electronic files, planning and coordinating annual corporate meetings, and scheduling facilities.
  6. Develops and builds relationships with all employees for increased efficiency and responsiveness of existing operations, and helps define new operational strategies by working with CEO and other executives on special projects.
  7. Serves as a subject-matter expert, handling inquiries, developing action plans, and assisting with the preparation and dissemination of communications.
  8. Monitors a variety of issues, projects and programs on behalf of the Executive Office, including action items requested by the Board of Directors from Authority staff or those that are dictated by a cycle.
  9. Prepares and monitors the budget for the Executive Office, including gathering and compiling data, researching, estimating, and annualizing expenses, and initiating and reviewing procurement actions.
  10. Performs related duties on own initiative or as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Seven years of progressively responsible experience in a business management or executive role. A master's degree may substitute for two years of required experience.
  2. Ability to perform complex analyses of data and information, make recommendations, and prepare reports, charts, and graphs.
  3. Knowledge of supervisory principles and ability to manage the operations and programs of the subordinate departments and team.
  4. Expertise in planning and leading strategic initiatives.
  5. Expertise in data analysis and budget management.
  6. Knowledge of contracts, and operating permits and ability to research and utilize information in Airports Authority guidelines.
  7. Ability to speak and write effectively, with an emphasis on negotiation and presentation skills.
  8. Ability to use computer hardware and modern office suite software, with an emphasis on spreadsheet software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. A master's degree in Personnel Administration, Communications, Public Administration, or a related field.
  2. Experience working in an airport, airline, or in airline support operations.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIRED

A state driver's license in good standing.

NECESSARY SPECIAL FACTORS

Is subject to holdover and recall, and may be required to work after hours, on weekends, or to assist due to an emergency.

A background security investigation will be required for all new hires.
