Junior GNC Engineer

Our client’s mission is to make life multiplanetary and preserve the light of human consciousness. They are building propellant production plants for the Moon and Mars to refuel spacecraft. As a Rover GNC Engineer, you will be responsible for developing the Guidance, Navigation, and Control algorithms for their mining rover, guiding the system from the prototype phase to lunar surface operations.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of GNC algorithms and simulations from concept to lunar surface operations
• Design and implement sensor fusion algorithms for perception and localization
• Develop path planning ConOps based on the analysis of the lunar environment
• Write efficient, reliable, and maintainable GNC code for the lunar rover
• Create a plan for GNC system qualification before the initial lunar mission
• Collaborate with the Embedded Software team to integrate GNC algorithms onto custom spacefaring hardware
• Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews

Required Qualifications

• A strong desire to help establish a permanent human presence off-Earth
• Evidence of exceptional engineering ability
• Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, OR demonstrated engineering excellence through professional experience
• 1-3 years of engineering experience, including internships

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience on a GNC team in the new space industry
• Experience developing SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) algorithms for robots or autonomous vehicles
• Proficiency in Simulink
• Major or minor in Computer Science/Engineering with a strong academic record
• Leadership experience in university project teams
• Excellent communication skills
