Position Purpose

The HSE Manager is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and environmental compliance of the pet food manufacturing facility in Reidsville, NC. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining safety and environmental programs, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship among employees.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HSE roles, in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Experience in the pet food or food manufacturing industry is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal HSE regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct training and presentations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and HSE management software.


Working Conditions:

  • The position requires working in a manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the facility for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of materials and equipment may be required.

Certifications:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), or similar certification preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Investigate and report on workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on health and safety practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety training requirements new hire and annual training

Environmental Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
  • Conduct environmental risk assessments and audits.
  • Develop and implement environmental policies and procedures.
  • Manage waste disposal, recycling, and pollution control programs.
  • Monitor and report on environmental performance and sustainability initiatives.

Program Development and Implementation:

  • Develop and maintain HSE programs and initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness.
  • Coordinate emergency response planning and drills.
  • Implement continuous improvement strategies for HSE performance.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date HSE records and documentation.
  • Prepare and submit HSE reports to regulatory agencies as required.
  • Track and analyze HSE performance metrics.

Communication and Training:

  • Conduct HSE training sessions for employees.
  • Communicate HSE policies, procedures, and updates to staff.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address HSE issues and improvements.
