The Humanities Department seeks to hire adjunct faculty for the BA in Graphic Design program. Multiple positions are possible, teaching in-person and/or online classes at 3 locations; our Chicago campus, our University Center at Harper College in Palatine, and our McHenry County College University Center in Crystal Lake.
In addition to teaching experience, applicants should possess strong graphic design skills, including the principles and elements of graphic design, color theory, typography, page layout, digital imaging and illustration, photography/video, and be proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud software including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Proficiency with HTML/CSS and/or Motion Graphics (Adobe Animate and/or After Effects) is a plus.
A master’s degree in graphic design is preferred, but candidates with a BFA or BA and commensurate experience in the field will be considered. Must have an online portfolio or other demonstration of professional work.
Qualified candidates will be able to teach Graphic Design courses such as Typography, Digital Illustration and Imaging (Illustrator and Photoshop), Publication Design (InDesign), Web Design, Photography, Video, Packaging Design, Visual Identity and Branding, Business of Design, 2D Animation, UI/UX, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Working Conditions:
Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds). May be exposed to loud noise from instrument and voice practice rooms on-site.
