Vice President, Audit – Carmel, IN

Reporting functionally to the Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee and administratively to the Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President, Audit serves as a key leader within the company, providing senior management and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors with assurance regarding the adequacy and effectiveness of internal financial and operational controls. This role will encourage and promote an ethics-based culture in the organization and will understand, respect, meet, and contribute to the legitimate and ethical expectations of the organization, as well as be able to recognize conduct that is contrary to those expectations. The VP, Audit will provide leadership to the audit teams, overseeing the entire audit process from developing an annual risk-based audit plan through the clearance of all issues included in the audit report. Additionally, this leader will be responsible for providing supervision to the overall Audit organization. The position ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable company policies, with a strong emphasis on compliance and process improvement. This role is highly visible within the organization and sits on the finance leadership team.

What You Will Do:

  • At least annually, develop a risk-based internal audit plan that considers the input of the Board and senior management. Discuss the plan with the Board and senior management and submit the plan to the Board for review and approval.
  • Ensure internal audit engagements are performed, documented, and communicated in accordance with the Global Internal Audit Standards.
  • Follow up on engagement findings and confirm the implementation of recommendations or action plans and communicate the results of internal audit services to the Board and senior management for each engagement as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional business leadership teams (e.g., Sales, Operations, Finance, Treasury, Global Procurement, HR) during engagement planning to understand business processes, risks, and challenges of the function to be audited.
  • Manage and oversee the daily activities of the audit team, including planning, execution, and reporting of audit findings.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of audit activities.
  • Collaborate with finance and operational leadership to identify areas for process improvement and risk mitigation.
  • Prepare and present audit reports to senior management and the Audit Committee, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of advanced data analysis tools to support audit activities.
  • Provide support and documentation for internal and external audits as needed.
  • Lead special projects and initiatives related to audit and compliance.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the audit team.

What You Need To Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is required; CPA and/or CIA certifications are preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant accounting and audit experience, preferably in a corporate or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, accounting, governance, and auditing principles and practices.
  • Excellent critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency in utilizing technology.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of attention to detail, prioritization, and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong business partnership experience, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Experience with SOX compliance and internal control testing.
  • Highly motivated and self-driven, with a focus on continuous process improvement.
  • Flexibility for travel; approximately 25% travel, including international travel, expected.
