SUMMARY: Assists the Child Development Centers Director in the daily operation and coordination of Go Kids, Inc. high quality center-based programs, services, and staff. Responsible for monitoring and implementation of Agency policies and procedures to maintain best practice and continuous quality improvement. Works with agency CCL Licensee to identify issues and promote compliance with Title 5 and Title 22 Regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: includes the following as well as other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned.

ON-GOING PROGRAM MANAGEMENT DUTIES:

  • Work in collaboration with the Child Development Centers Director and support staff to promote and ensure high quality programs and services in the Go Kids Centers.
  • Provide mentor coaching and support to center-based staff to include but not limited to:
    • Development of age appropriate environments
    • Implementation of Creative Curriculum
    • Implementation of the Desired Results System
    • Fiscal/Budget monitoring for maximum enrollment
  • Develop and implement training for center-based staff for continued building of skills and competence.
  • Conduct monthly center visits to monitor and observe classrooms and center-based staff.
  • Review and audit program records for continued compliance.
  • Monitor performance of the center-based staff Substitute Pool.
  • Assist the Child Development Centers Director to assess program needs for continuous quality improvement and development of short and long term goals and objectives.
  • Assist in the development and coordination of Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) activities and parent workshops.
  • Monitor and ensure maintenance of Go Kids, Inc. health and safety practices.
  • Be available for monthly one-on-one meetings with the Child Development Centers Director regarding current program status and activities.

PERIODIC DUTIES/ASSIGNMENTS:

  • Facilitate and/or participate in meetings as requested.
  • Provide support as new projects and/or systems are rolled out.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of the Agency center-based Staff Development calendar.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of the Agency In-Service.
  • Screen center-based staff applications to ensure qualifications.
  • Assist Child Development Centers Director in the orientation and on-the-job training of new center-based staff.
  • Participate in Agency annual Program Self Evaluation process and monitor timelines.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of behavior plans and referrals as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Requires expertise in ECE, Title XXII, Title V and local laws and regulations governing childcare, safety and education; knowledge of sound techniques in all aspects of child care education and development.
  • Must be organized, creative, independent and self-motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, detail-oriented, flexible in scheduling and prioritization, and driven by excellence.
  • Must possess exceptional communication skills to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form, including accurate grammar and business correspondence knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective business relationships; demonstrated ability to communicate in situations requiring tact and poise; skilled in confidentiality and discretion.
  • Thorough knowledge of office administration (including efficient filing systems, office machines and equipment, and computer software) and skilled in customer service and employee relations.
  • Must present a neat, professional appearance.
  • Must be able to multi-task, and focus with composure, in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities.
  • Requires a good sense of humor and belief in working as a professional, cohesive team member.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development or a related field.
  • 24 units ECE/CD including core courses: Child/Human Growth and Development; Child Family Community and Program/Curriculum, 16 GE units, 6 administration units, 2 adult supervision units, 2-3 years related experience (minimum 3 hours per day) and 100+ days of supervising adults.
  • Site Supervisor Permit or ability to apply within 90 days of hire. Alternative qualifications include BA or higher with 12 ECE units and 3 units supervised field experience in ECE setting and 2-3 years related experience working with children.
  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint and criminal record clearance.
  • Current pediatric CPR and first aid certificate required. Must be obtained from an approved vendor.
  • Must be in good health as verified by a current health screening, including a test for tuberculosis, performed under the supervision of a physician not more than one year prior to employment.
  • Must have a current California driver’s license.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures with conformance to the prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from government entities, employees, managers, clients, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate figures & amounts with a 10 Key.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret and respond to fiscal budgetary reports.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to define and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables, occasionally in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
