About This Opportunity
As the only Sales Development Representative, you'll be responsible for generating the CEO's first, second, and third meetings by nurturing and engaging with C-Suite sales prospects from initial contact to sale. This means you'll manage our deal pipeline, which includes reaching out to prospects, attending sales discovery meetings and taking notes, communicating with people, coordinating travel and conferences, managing calendars and follow-ups, sending thank-you notes, maintaining our CRM, and automating sales workflows.
You'll be the CEO's right-hand person, working directly with them. This means you will work long days and hours and perform many thankless tasks, including those that may not always receive immediate recognition but are integral to building the company.
Job Details
Title: Sales Development Representative
Compensation: $55,000 - $60,000 base (depending on experience, plus commissions and benefits)
Reports To: Emeka Oguh, CEO
Location: Work where you are most effective (remote + in office as needed for special projects, about 2-3 days per month). You must live within 1.5-2 hours driving distance from our Philadelphia office located at 3675 Market Street, Suite 200, Philadelphia, PA 19104

What does a Sales Development Representative do, anyway? In plain terms, this usually means:
- Assisting the CEO in generating first, second, and third meetings
- Information Gathering and Prospect Research
- Strategizing and launching campaigns to move prospects through the nurturing framework
- Personalized, targeted outreach leveraging various channels (social media, email, mail, phone calls, newsletters, in-person events)
- Engaging with prospects and their companies on Social Media
- Enrolling prospects in nurture campaigns within 24 hours after each sales call
- Consistent prospect outreach and follow-up via phone calls, in-person meetings, social media.
- Sending hand-written letters
- Calendar management
- Create a tailored overview of PeopleJoy before calls
- Updating and maintaining our sales CRM (we use HubSpot)
- Creating and automating marketing and sales workflows
- Coordinating meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements for the CEO
Other things to note:
- This role will require attending 6-8 conferences per year. Some last-minute travel may pop up.
If this sounds like you, your previous education, work experience, and passions probably sound like this:
- College degree
- 2+ years experience in a role that requires resilience and perseverance to overcome rejection and achieve success (e.g. sales rep, actor/actress, athlete, writer, entrepreneur)
- You're process-driven and well-organized
- Team player: You've played a team sport
- Energetic. You BYOE (bring your own energy) wherever you go.
- Have been an entrepreneur or enjoy working with entrepreneurs (and all the challenges that come with it)
- You're a self-starter. You've taught yourself a new skill in the last year (e.g., how to code, a language, cook, public speaking, certification, etc.)
- You're technically savvy and have excellent skills in MS Office or G Suite
- You communicate well
- You have a strong work ethic
Lastly, here's what success looks like in this position:
- You are consistently generating initial and follow-up sales meetings
- Notes and action items are added to the CRM within 4 hours of a meeting.
- You are contacting meeting attendees 24 hours in advance to confirm attendance so that meeting no-shows are non-existent.
- Emails are responded to within 4 hours.
- Every deal in the sales funnel has a pending action item. No stale deals.
- Success metrics are delivered to the CEO weekly (e.g. # of outreaches, # of initial and follow-up sales meetings generated)
- You've automated processes to handle prospect outreach at each step of the sales funnel
- You've automated yourself out of all but the most critical tasks
- Zero dropped balls. You deliver what you say you will deliver
