MISSION :

The Electrical Construction Safety Manager will oversee and manage safety programs and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and A-C subcontractors on project sites. This role is pivotal in maintaining compliance with all safety regulations and standards, reducing workplace incidents, and fostering a culture of safety within the organization.


KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Lead regular audits of all work areas assigned within Division, communicating results with field leadership and provide safety expertise in response to identified deficiencies.
  • Perform comprehensive, in-depth investigations of all injury and loss incidents, identify all causal factors, and work with Safety Director to develop and implement measures to prevent recurrences, and evaluate their effectiveness. Lead RCAs (root cause analysis) to prevent reoccurring events at projects. Responsible for injury case management, communicating work restrictions with supervisors and collaborate on alternative work options within an employee’s job description.
  • Ensure safety training, testing, and recordkeeping of all A-C employees is maintained. Where A-C is prime, verifying all other persons arriving on site have completed training associated with corresponding work (e.g., New Hire Orientation, Equipment Training, Haz Com, Fall Protection, Trenching/Excavation, Confined Space, Lockout/Tag out, Crane and Rigging, etc.).
  • Participate in the development of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and ensure Methods of Procedures (MOPs) (e.g., LOTO, first-time energization, etc.) are documented, known, and followed at each project site. Offer guidance to field leadership for means of implementation.
  • Evaluate data analytics to effectively report to Safety Director, Division Leader and Field Leadership, trends and leading indicators given the last 30 days, last quarter, and fiscal year.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Resolve site safety issues and provide emergency response arising from subcontractors, clients, employees, and company managers.
  • Identify gaps and implement safety program elements, as needed, to comply with client and regulatory requirements.
  • Function as an advisor to the project management team and client representatives to ensure safety requirements are identified, communicated to employees, and fulfilled on each project.
  • Manage the regional safety program budget, planning, acquiring, controlling, and distribution of all safety equipment, supplies, and training aids.
  • Develop and review the site safety plans for each regional project.
  • Contribute to project Kick-Off meetings.
  • Review of the two-week Short Interval Plan (SIP) for high-risk activities and assist Project Teams with development of JHAs.
  • Ensure emergency action plans (EAP) are implemented for projects and facilities in assigned region. Ensure clinics/medical facilities are set up, and the project team knows their location.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and other relevant safety regulations on all regional projects. Be onsite liaison for any regulatory site visitors.
  • Work closely with the Safety Director to develop and implement strategic safety initiatives. Promote a culture of safety through regular communication, workshops, and safety meetings.
  • Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and other stakeholders to ensure safety protocols are integrated into the project planning and execution.
  • Lead and mentor junior safety professionals and other safety personnel.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s degree (AA) in Safety or Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety management, preferably in electrical construction
  • Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or equivalent certification is preferred
  • NFPA70E certification preferred
  • OSHA 500 certification preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Proficiency in safety management software and MS Office Suite
  • Ability to travel to various project sites as needed


Pay Range: $90,000 – 150,000 . Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
