Position Overview:

As an Accounting Manager, you'll join a growing team intent on building a world class function! As the Company scales, we strive to be a step ahead, implementing processes and tools, and diving deep into details. You will be responsible for a mix of traditional duties, from ownership of certain headcount related expense line items, to oversight of our very healthy cash accounts, and most interestingly, management of the accounting for our growing list of international entities.

Your ownership will be end to end, including (but not limited to): ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of all transactional processing and related reconciliations, working closely with outsourced service providers to ensure a timely and accurate month end close process across all of our subsidiaries, and interacting with our external auditors (Big 4) as necessary. You will work closely to help define related policies and procedures, develop internal controls, influence future systems/tool selection and configuration, and work closely with the FP&A team to align budgets with actual results.

This is an individual contributor role, with the possibility for direct resources as the team grows with the business. The Accounting Manager will report to our Senior Manager, Accounting (who owns the GL and close).

This is a very key and foundational addition to our growing Accounting team. Leverage your prior experiences and build things the right way in a very fast paced growth-phase SaaS startup!

Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of the books and records of each of international subsidiaries. This includes management/support of our local third party service providers, compliance with local statutory requirements (exclusive of tax), ensuring adherence to parent company policies, maintenance of our cost-plus environment, timely close process through consolidation and f/x considerations in our accounting system
  • Ownership of certain headcount related income statement line items. This relates primarily to our bonus and commission accruals process
  • Oversight of our operating and investment accounts, from maintaining a solid control environment and matrix to preparing period end reconciliations, and initiating payments and transfers to our vendors and entities
  • Execution of related period end close responsibilities, including close checklists, mid-month health checks, close status updates, participation in close calls, and follow-up to post-close items
  • Interact with the Technical Accounting team to ensure debits and credits are recorded in accordance with company guidance/policy
  • Work closely with the Finance Systems team to build applications that align with policy
  • Interface with our external auditors to help guide the company through our annual external audit
  • Work with an eye towards future SOX compliance and always keep change management frameworks top of mind
  • Maintain a constant state of urgency and flexibility and keep an eye towards future scalability

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA highly preferred
  • 7-10 years of accounting experience, including experience within public accounting. SaaS and startup experience a plus
  • Experience in accounting for international subsidiaries
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote first environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate cross-functionally at all levels in an efficient manner
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel
