TITLE: Director of School Counseling, Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Successful guidance counseling experience required.
  2. Demonstrated leadership ability.
  3. Graduate degree.
  4. Candidates should hold a valid Maine certificate (075).

REPORTS TO: OHCHS Principal

JOB GOAL: To provide leadership, coordination, and advocacy for the school counseling department.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate professional development for early release days, workshop days, and department meetings.
  2. Prepare and maintain the School Counseling Department Budget.
  3. Create the Master Schedule for OHCHS, including new courses, enrollments, course sections, teacher assignments, recapture classes, etc.
  4. Oversee the implementation of assessments, including state and local testing, SATs, and Advanced Placement Exams.
  5. Oversee grading at OHCHS, including verification reports, report cards, transcripts, and summer school.
  6. NCAA clearinghouse coordinator.
  7. Maintain communications regarding the OHCHS School Counseling Department, including the Program of Studies, the OHCHS School profile, the School Counseling Department Website, and the events calendar.
  8. Coordinate trainings related to school counseling.
  9. Coordinate student recognition awards (Viking Corps, DAR, Boys/Girls State).
  10. Serve as the OHCHS main point of contact for Infinite Campus.
  11. Oversee Early College.
  12. Oversee grants received by the School Counseling Department.
  13. Supervise the registrar.
  14. Co-Chair the HS Scholarship Committee.
  15. Collaborate with the registrar to implement the scholarship process, including the database management, letters, tracking, materials, Class Night, etc.
  16. Coordinate with Homeless Liaison for McKinney-Vento students.
  17. Serve on the OHCHS Crisis Team.
  18. Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School serves approximately 1100 students in grades 9-12.

  • Instilling problem-solving and critical thinking as a “new basics” for learning across all grade levels.
  • Delivering strong literacy instruction across content areas.
  • Helping students develop skills to apply, interpret, analyze, and evaluate the vast, ever-expanding amount of information.
  • Employing effective lesson design by adjusting to students’ personal learning needs and preferences, including appropriate technology applications.
