About the Role:
We have an exciting opportunity to support our Technology team as a ServiceNow Automation Engineer based in Shelton, CT. The Automation Engineer will have a deep understanding of automation best practices with their primary focus in the ServiceNow platform. This includes other applicable tools that will integrate with ServiceNow, such as via AWS, Azure, homegrown tools, and more. The engineer will play a key role in ideating, designing, implementing, and maintaining automation processes. They will be expected to create technical documentation around the architecture of the processes, modules, and tools involved. The engineer is expected to be a subject matter expert on the platform to be able to support these initiatives.
- Ability to support the ideation, design, or redesign of technical solutions deployed by Subway.
- Ensure that services offered meet the requirements of the product owners and deliver the desired outcome.
- Deliver continuous improvement initiatives through streamlining and automating services and apps.
- Work with senior management to identify opportunities for automation to contribute to the realization of Subway's strategic goals.
- Document the services and work with the operations teams to transition the support of the services.
- Functions as an L4 support for the applications and processes that support the service.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Projects
- Projects often involve the feed of information from other Subway systems into ServiceNow to support the Technology Support Center (TSC), Guest Care, etc. Projects often include the set-up of integrations via plugins, APIs, manual imports, etc. The design of the data flows and processes related to these efforts is key in this position. The engineer will both carry out the design as well as the implementation of the integrations and processes, while assisting in the transition to support teams by also providing training and technical documentation. The engineer will serve as the ServiceNow SME on these projects and propose solutions related to the automation desired. They will consult with Enterprise Architecture to ensure adherence to corporate policies.
- Operations
- Projects and pre-existing modules that require post implementation support will require oversight from the engineer. New enhancement requests for automation will also be part of the day-to-day work. The scope of this work includes the review of incidents and new tasks related to automation, design and implementation around the requests and remediation of the incidents, as well as supporting and mentoring the team where necessary on the design of the modules.
- Continuous Improvement
- The engineer will be responsible for identifying methods to streamline processes and workflows in the Subway ServiceNow environment. This includes identifying areas with automation opportunity, reviewing findings with management, designing the new processes/workflows, and implementing them.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree - Information Technology, Security, Business, or relevant experience preferred.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in ServiceNow and Automation.
- Basic understanding of IT infrastructure and B2E, B2B systems.
- Basic understanding of Agile Scrum, Waterfall, or basic project management practices.
- Proficiency in JavaScript required. JSON and Rest APIs preferred.
- Understanding of HTML/CSS for the ServiceNow Portal preferred.
- ServiceNow CSA preferred.
- ITIL Foundations or higher preferred.
- Proof of JavaScript certification or personal open-source work (such as hosted on GitHub) preferred but not required.
