K-State Olathe seeks an IT Director with experience and expertise in technology operations serving both internal users and community partners.The campus hosts many events for community partners and visitors, and this requires great attention to customer service, collaboration, and integration.The technology operations at K-State Olathe include all classroom, desktop and research support, building access and control systems and facility management.The successful candidate will have experience with system integration and project management to include new building planning and expansion of systems to meet campus and constituent needs.New technology advancements in manufacturing, bulk solids and research integration are key priorities for Olathe campus and to support 1Data research activities, knowledge of and experience in a Linux environment is preferred.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to be available after hours and on weekends for emergencies and campus and community events as appropriate.
  • Ability to manage offsite technology including at additional locations in Johnson County.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field
  • Experience in technology troubleshooting, assisting, and training
  • Experience administering servers in small to medium sized server environments
  • Experience managing IT staff members responsible for providing front-line support for hardware and departmental IT systems
  • Experience conducting and directing research into IT issues and products
  • Experience working in a higher education environment
  • Experience building business case scenarios and working with technology allocation and budgets
  • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as demonstrated by application materials

  • Experience with project management
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language

  • Experience with a Linux environment is preferred
