Basic Function
Seeking an Olefins Technical Manager to join our team located in Morris, IL. In this role, you will serve as key point of contact for the Olefin's Technical organization, Control Systems Engineering (CSE) and Process Safety. The role combines a manufacturing management function with forward looking objectives to improve overall Unit performance with a focus on process integrity, efficiency and optimization and initiative-taking response. The incumbent will be part of the Morris site leadership team and report to the Site Manager. Our ideal candidate will thrive in a challenging environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Leads the Morris Site Olefins Technical Department, CSE and Process Safety
• Sets clear performance expectations, coach and mentor personnel
• Assures Olefins unit meets the highest standards of operational excellence
• Provides technical oversight to the Morris Complex Olefins unit to assure Goal Zero HSE performance
• Drives process safety performance across the entire Morris site
• Drives improvement through effective gap closure plans for operating units
• Identifies unit and site-wide improvement opportunities and driving closure of these ideas by effective use of site resources
• Serves as focal point for manufacturing, external supplier opportunities, and project development
• Supports development of the cost center budget for Olefins
• Contributes at site leadership level to drive Morris operations to achieve annual goals
• Develops and manages key performance metrics to drive accountability in Olefins Technical
• Supports community and represents LyondellBasell by joining a strategic local organization
Min. Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering
• Minimum 10 years progressive experience in chemicals process engineering or manufacturing engineering with demonstrated capability to learn new processes where experience is limited.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities which have translated into strong results. Previous leadership experience is desired as demonstrated from past roles or projects.
• Strong understanding of human factors concepts to drive organizational performance.
• Strong understanding of process safety and reliability processes to drive improvements.
• Must have ability to work with minimal oversight and ability to motivate and lead groups.
• Effective communication skills and strong technical skills.
• Proven problem-solving ability; and good organizational/work planning skills.
• Must be able to interact effectively with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE), projects, operations, reliability, maintenance and business organizations.
• Results oriented and strategic minded to drive site improvements through 5-year gap closure plans.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Olefins processing is preferred.
- A working knowledge of chemical manufacturing process safety concepts and application, control systems, energy balance and sustainability measurements and improvement initiatives are preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering is preferred.
