SUMMARY/SCOPE:
The AdmissionsCounselor is a professional admission officer who provides autonomous supportand preservation of the HSU admissions and recruiting process in accordance withthe mission and image of the University.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: These examples do not include all possible tasks & do not limit the assignment of related tasks.
Recruiting, AdmissionCounseling, Financial Aid Counseling, strategically manage designatedgeographic territory.
Recruiting
Travelextensively throughout a primary recruiting market to seek, select, and convertprospective students to HSU to actual enrolled students.
Travelextensively throughout Texas conducting and/or hosting high school fairs,church visits, fellowships, alumni association meetings, send-off parties, andother conversion activities. The possibilities are endless and are not limitedto these listed. Creativity and independency are a must.
Counselprospective students and their parents to inform them of admissionrequirements, financial assistance programs and processes, scholarshipeligibility, student life, and other aspects of HSU.
Able to fosterand maintain professional relationships with prospective students and theirfamilies.
Able tocommunicate effectively both in person and in written format. Presentations to groups and individualsrequired.
Administrative
Provide weekly,quarterly and annual territory reports to Director of Recruiting.
Assists withdaily campus visits as well as seasonal activities, projects and/or events.
When necessary,assist with daily campus tours for prospective students and families.
Weekend andnight work occasionally required.
Additionaldepartmental administrative duties may be assigned.
General
Must be able towork with multiple constituents in a manner congruent with the image andmission of the University. Constituents include but not limited to: prospectivestudents, current students, alumni, trustees, other college/universitypersonnel, and various internal personnel.
Must be able to work on multiple software platforms to include Microsoft Office suite Slate CRM.
Knowledge of the Internet and Social Media platforms required. HSU is an Ellucian/Colleague database school.
Adheres toguidelines in the University Personnel and Safety Handbooks and departmentalpolicies.
Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning and Computer Skills):
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to writeroutine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groupsof customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units ofmeasure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability tocompute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailedbut uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problemsinvolving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Toperform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of allMicrosoft Office Software (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Slate, our CustomerRelationship Management system. Knowledge of the internet, instantmessage/texting and social media required. HSU is an Ellucian/Colleaguedatabase school, prior knowledge is a plus but is not a requirement.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor'sdegree required; preference will be given to applicants who have a degree from Hardin-SimmonsUniversity.
1-2 years of customer service or sales experience preferred.
Ability to proficiently speak Spanish as a first or secondlanguage is preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is aNon-Exempt, Full-Time Hourly Staff Position.
A regular 40-hour workweek is required at minimum (plusoccasional overtime).
Working beyond a normal 40-hour week is a definiteincluding occasional nights and weekends. Travel and irregular work hours arerequired.
All hoursworked beyond 40 hours in a single work week will be compensated at time and ahalf, per FLSA guidelines.
Must have andmaintain a valid Class C Driver's License and maintain a clear driving recordto be insurable under the university liability policy.
Frequent travel isrequired, including evenings and weekends, especially as part of travel.
Must be able todrive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
Additional travel maybe required on occasion.
