HAMR Media Tribology Integration Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop HAMR media interface, investigate media design variables impact to hard drive interface, including using laser, tribology test methods working with lube and carbon engineers.
  • Investigate media thermal, optical, mechanical, and magnetic property impacts to media interface.
  • Reliability evaluation for HDD interface using best practices and methodologies.
  • Investigate laser power impact to head/media interface and media variable and design window.
  • Work with media sputter and process to understand the process impact.
  • Collaborate with HDD and Head team to improve media performance.
  • Participate in significant technical investigations from problem statement to conclusions.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in Tribology interface design, tribology testing, material analysis and instrument.
  • Knowledge in head/media interface and HAMR technology.
  • Possess data analytics and statistics skillset.
  • Capable of quickly learning new test systems, tools, and methodologies.
  • Knowledge and skill in programming, Python, data structures, algorithms is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, solutions-oriented with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects and tasks to deliver deadlines and commitments.
  • Graduate degree in material science, physics, chemistry, EE, mechanical engineering, optical engineering, or equivalent required.

  • An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, and experience.
  • The salary range is applicable for jobs performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in these states.
