The Energy Services Specialist is responsible for assisting the Crew Leader in the installation of energy saving measures and the correction of health and safety issues in homes. We weatherize the homes of low-income, elderly, and other qualified clients.Workweek is Monday Thursday, 40 hours. Starting pay is $17.50/hr.Job Responsibilities: Performs all weatherization tasks assigned, e.g.: installation of cellulose, fiberglass, caulking, glazing and weather-stripping Complete all tasks on time and in a good workmanship like manner Responsible for the care and maintenance of agency tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials Installs attic, wall, and/or floor insulation, including removing and replacing different types of siding materials without damage to siding Installs air-sealing materials to control infiltration using proper applications and techniques Installs vent pipes to insure proper and safe venting of energy systems Makes minor structural repairs requiring carpentry skills on housing units as assigned, e.g. install replacement windows and doors Uses hand and power tools in a prescribed, safe manner when installing materials and repairing structures Assists Crew Leader with Building Science Diagnostic testing (i.e. blower door, combustion appliance zone testing) Keeps Department vehicles and equipment storage room organized Maintains tools and equipment in good working order Participates in all phases of energy/weatherization training programs as directed; attends conferences, lectures, and workshops as required Other: It is expected that all employees in this position have and maintain a current, clean drivers license that is acceptable to Agency standards.Required to take and pass a DOT physical within 90 days of hire Must pass a drug test and pre-employment background check Knowledge, Skills and abilities: General carpentry skills, skilled use of hand tools and tape measure; and follows directions accurately General knowledge of construction tools/materials, terminology, insulation materials, installation techniques, etc. Physical ability to perform manual labor Ability to cooperate and communicate with clients and co-workers respectfully and conscientiously Demonstrates basic Weatherization core competencies and shown safe work practices in the delivery of quality installations after 3-month orientation period Demonstrates math and reading skills relevant to responsibilities of the position Ability to understand basic energy principles, heat transfer, infiltration, etc. Ability to obtain Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification as a Building Analyst Physical: Lifting and/or carrying up to 50 pounds, and pulling or pushing objects weighing up to 100 pounds up to 20 feet Moves through confined spaces in basements, attics, under mobile homes, etc. Climbing a ladder up to 30 feet Balancing on roofs and ceiling joists To apply: Go to Career Opportunities at and complete online application
