Culinary Director Job Summary:

As the Culinary Director, you will helm the culinary operations, planning and overseeing the entire food service department. Through your expertise and guidance, you will cultivate a dining experience that delights our residents, reinforces nutritional values, and establishes a standard of culinary excellence that has become a hallmark of our identity.

Responsibilities:

1. Plan, develop, organize, and implement the food service department, including hiring staff.
2. Meet regularly with the Executive Director and care staff to ensure compliance with residents’ diet requirements.
3. Train staff, and monitor/promote independent programs for staff training.
4. Order and purchase food, supplies and equipment as needed.
5. Direct the proper storage of food and supplies and maintain an orderly inventory.
6. Ensure the delivery of meals to the dining room at appropriate times.
7. Assist in food preparation and cleaning duties.
8. Plan and assist with special events including private dinners.
9. Assist in the preparation of the annual Food Service budget and make efforts to operate within those guidelines.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or GED and successful completion of a reputable course in food service management preferred.
2. College degree in culinary arts/management is very desirable.
3. Certificate/License as required by federal/state/local law or associated agencies.
4. Physically able to move at least 25 lbs. without assistance. May be required to lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, etc.
5. Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.

7. Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
