A Staff Attorney with Carolina Immigration Law will assist clients in their applications for any number of immigration benefits such as naturalization, adjustment of status, employment authorization, TPS, asylum, VAWA relief, Special Immigrant Juvenile status, and family-based petitions as well as waivers, and other related applications as needed. The staff attorney will collaborate with the entire team to create a collective experience aimed at providing the best service to our clients.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from accredited law school and be a licensed attorney in good standing with your state Bar Association.
  • Two years of experience practicing immigration law with a firm understanding of immigration law and procedure.
  • Demonstrated interest in working with the immigrant community exercising socio-economic and cultural sensitivity.
  • Experience managing lifecycles of legal case documents, information, and services, with the goal of maximizing workflow effectiveness.
  • Investigative mind, strong research skills, and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Embraces simplification and innovative opportunities with an emphasis on continuous improvement. Agility to navigate at a fast pace with a positive attitude and aptitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively collaborate, build consensus and influence beneficial outcomes. Ability to work both independently and under supervision.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and must successfully complete all background checks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluent in English and Spanish with the ability to translate written documents.
  • Familiarity and experience in working with and mentoring Department of Justice Accredited Representatives (DOJ Reps).
  • Experience with immigration case management system Docketwise.
  • Licensed in North Carolina or South Carolina
