The Shepherd Color Company is seeking an experienced Electrical Design and Controls Technician to support safety goals and implement industrial safety standards required for regulatory compliance. In this role, you will work across multiple departments to guide efforts involving industrial controls, power distribution, and industrial automation. Working within our site engineering team, you will support plant infrastructure development and maintenance, playing a vital role in designing and maintaining electrical control systems including networks, panels, and troubleshooting. You will work across multiple teams and contractors to ensure our plant is running in both an efficient and effective manner. Essential Job Functions/Duties
- Create and maintain elementary electrical control schematics and power distribution drawings
- Specify and purchase programmable control devices
- Identify, investigate, design, and implement new control technologies
- Awareness of industrial safety standards
- Serve as a resource for industrial automation and electrical technology in the plant
- Review equipment proposals
- Manage electrical contractors
- Work across multiple teams and departments to ensure top-notch service and quality
- Other duties as assigned
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in industrial control systems
- Project management skills
- Root Cause Analysis experience preferred
- Diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- AutoCAD literate
- Experience in PLC
- Two or more years experience working with industrial electrical systems and automation
- Two year technical degree preferred
At times, you will be exposed to cold or hot, dusty and noisy surroundings and will need to be able to wear a respirator. Travel may be required.
