Responsibilities
What you'll be challenged to do:
Gannett Fleming TranSystems is looking for a Survey Technician. Gannett Fleming TranSystems provides the planning, design and construction oversight for the transportation networks that drive our nation, fueling the movement of people and goods on roads, rails, waterways and through the air. Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  • Proficiency in MD SHA and Maryland Transit Authority field and office procedures.
  • Obtain Maryland Transit Authority OSC (On Site Coordinator) credentials.
  • Position requires comprehensive knowledge of GPS surveying including static, fast static, RTK, and VRS
  • Office survey duties include, drafting field books for MD SHA, creating deed mosaics, reducing raw traverse files, reducing and plotting topographic surveys, computing baselines and right of way plats, preparing easement plats, ALTA surveys and computations for construction stake out.
  • Create/work in 2D and 3D CADD models, particularly Microstation/OpenRoads & ACAD
  • Good learner with the ability to take direction from lead surveyor and work with engineers in the performance of project tasks.
  • Communicate frequently with Project Manager, Supervisor, and project team members.
  • Keep Task Leader informed of workload, provide updates on project progress.
  • Responsible for accuracy of plans, quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and conformance to budgets, schedules, and company standards under the direction of task and project leaders.
Qualifications
What you bring to our firm:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent plus minor Engineering and Survey courses
  • 10 years of experience
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
  • Experience with survey and engineering design packages such as MicroStation/ OpenRoads, Carlson and Civil3D.
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

This compensation range is specific to the State of xxx and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; internal peer equity; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Gannett Fleming TranSystems, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $27-$40/hr.
