Job Title: Registered Nurse
Job Specialty: Operating Room (OR) Circulating Nurse
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour days, 0600-1830, 3 days per week (includes weekday and weekend call)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Experience: Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience
License: Active Indiana Nurse License or compact nurse license
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS - AHA only), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS - AHA only)
Must-Have: Previous experience assisting anesthesia or willingness to be trained
Job Description:
- Circulate all open chest cases and assist with procedures such as lines (Swan, A-line), transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), labs, and more.
- Assist with anesthesia tasks as part of the role after undergoing facility-provided training.
- Utilize various equipment including EPIC charting system, I-Stat, TEE, and warming/cooling units.
- Handle approximately one weekday/night call every 7-10 days and a full weekend call every 5-6 weeks.
- Collaborate with 1-2 nurses depending on patient acuity.
- Comply with dress code requirements which include covering cloth cap and bouffant, no rings, fake nails, nail polish, and large earrings. Tuck necklaces.
- Participate in unit/department-specific training and orientation programs including Jumpstart, basic nursing/EPIC with initial 2-3 days in OR.
- Be flexible with floating to core side if needed, including general, ortho/neuro areas.
- Engage in a supportive work environment with a CVOR comprising 4 ORs and hybrids, and a Core OR with 13 rooms.
