Job Description

SoarTech needs solutions architects that can help play a pivotal role in designing and implementing end-to-end solutions for our customers. This position will work closely with scientist and engineering collaborators to ensure architectures and technology stacks align with objectives and technical requirements to support new business development. Activities in this area include developing new concepts for addressing some of the most challenging issues faced in the Military Healthcare System (MHS) like developing clinical decision support tools, managing global logistics and supply chain challenges, developing training technologies, enhancing healthcare system operational efficiency, and forecasting future health challenges. The position requires expertise across a range of complementary science and engineering domains to support our Nations warfighters and veterans. This includes personal initiative, deep technical knowledge, and strong problem-solving abilities to accomplish technical innovation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Generate ideas and concepts to develop successful proposals for work within the MHS that align with SoarTech’s Artificial intelligence capacities.
  • Define, design, and implement technical solutions in the context of system and software engineering factors that influence system performance, life-cycle costs, risks, and the potential for interoperability.
  • Helps architect and code solutions that are secure, scalable, extensible, implementable, reusable, well-documented, and sustainable.
  • Collaborate with others in the translation of medical S&T into engineering practice, the development of project strategy, and the implementation and execution of goals and objectives for research programs.
  • May provide leadership and coordination of staff supporting medical S&T projects and contribute to existing projects as a technical contributor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field involving artificial intelligence, human behavior modeling, natural language processing, machine learning, multi-agent systems, deep learning, agent-based social simulation, data analytics, intelligent user interfaces, complex adaptive systems, decision support systems, learning technologies, augmented reality, virtual reality, simulation, robotics, data fusion, and/or game development.
  • Experience writing software code, to better communicate with engineers as part of your project teams.
  • Good communication skills, including facilitation, negotiation, and collaboration.
  • Strong presentation skills and an ability to confidently present research concepts and technical efforts to a wide range of audiences.
  • Demonstrated professional maturity.
  • Ability to integrate ideas from multiple disciplines.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DOD) Security Clearance.

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

  • An advanced degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field.
  • Familiarity with the structure of DOD MHS, medical hierarchy, and DOD Medical S&T funding.
  • Familiarity with the DoD S&T community players, processes, and procedures (e.g., the military services and competitive BAA processes).
  • A general understanding of Project Management best practices for scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Active-duty military experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
