Founded in 1983, Aitech has a rich history of pioneering advancements such as the world’s first conduction-cooled MIL-SPEC VMEbus board and has continually evolved its product line to include state-of-the-art SBCs, GPGPU-based AI applications, and advanced cybersecurity for mission-critical systems.

We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) who will architect, design, research, and develop highly advanced space applications, potentially leading to new product and business opportunities for the company.

The SME will act as a technical authority across sites on EE projects with a full design cycle, recommending strategic EE technical paths for business expansion, defining industry best practices, and providing mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Work on multiple major projects of the highest complexity requiring cutting-edge, innovative solutions.
  • Design significant systems with a strong understanding of development programs across the entire lifecycle from concept to decommission.
  • Occasionally serve as a technical consultant across multiple sites.
  • Engage in long-range technical planning on multiple major projects.
  • Ensure results have a critical impact on the objectives and goals of the program.
  • Lead or strongly influence a group of engineers and technicians.
  • Self-supervise within the guidance and expectations of site management.
  • Provide guidance to several groups within the organization and influence functional area strategic goals.
  • Exercise independent initiative and judgment in setting and implementing goals.
  • Write technical documents with high proficiency.
  • Lead EE designs with a full design cycle including schematic capture, design trades, interconnections, and PCB layout. Serve as the primary design reviewer and drive process improvements.
  • Lead peer reviews for technical development.

Technical Experience

  • Recognized as a SME or technical expert within the professional community.
  • Demonstrate extremely high levels of technical knowledge, ingenuity, and creativity within the industry.
  • Develop and apply advanced technologies, engineering principles, theories, and concepts with broad knowledge about the design and operation of systems outside of specialty.
  • Proficient in Systematic RCCA processes and capable of generating RCCA reports for customers.
  • Craft effective strategic technical paths (technology development roadmap) to capture new adjacent business.
  • Proficient in development tools for design capture, simulation, and debugging, particularly OrCAD Schematic Capture and Altium Designer.
  • Proficient with Worst Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA) and Electrical Parts Stress Analysis (EPSA).

Communication/Interpersonal Skills

  • Effectively mentor individuals outside of their work group and communicate with customers regarding budgets, schedules, technical issues, and resolution plans.
  • Deliver effective presentations to critical/high-level customers and represent the work group on review panels and cross-organizational teams.
  • Resolve divergent technical opinions within the team and among customers.
  • Address difficult technical issues effectively.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's of Science + 10-14 years, Master's of Science + 8-12 years, or PhD + 5-9 years.
  • Minimum 15+ years of Digital Design experience with mil-spec or space programs.
  • Excellent knowledge of industry-standard bus architectures such as VME, cPCI, and PCIe is highly desired.
