Job Summary
The Compensation Analyst will consult with and support UCSF leaders while operating independently on assigned department's compensation administration, program review and execution, presentations and trainings, resource needs, guidelines and communication materials. Assists with the design, implementation and monitoring of new HR/Compensation systems and/or upgrades. Researches best practices and provides recommendations for improvements in procedures, policies, programs and client service standards.
The Compensation team provides consultation and informs decision-making in alignement with UCSF's goals of attracting and retaining talent. The team offers consultation, research, and analytical services to support UCSF leaders in the following areas:
- Implementation of rewards strategy, salary and equity guidelines, at-risk plans, market data analyses, and job classification processes
- Assist management in job design and position classification structure
- Administration of UCSF's compensation practices and processes within the University of California system-wide policies
- Participate in salary surveys to obtain competitive pay data and practices
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $84,400 - $180,000 (Annual Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related and/or equivalent experience/training
- At least three (3) years of progressive experience in HR or Compensation
- Has comprehensive knowledge of the compensation function as well as general knowledge of other areas of human resources
- Knows how to develop and implement compensation programs for client group and understands how they and other initiatives may impact various areas of human resources and the organization
- Strong analytical skills to conduct complex data analysis, modeling and develop recommendations as well as effective written and verbal communication skills to convey findings and recommendations clearly and concisely
- Strong computer skills to utilize the tools necessary to conduct the comprehensive, detailed analysis
- Has strong interpersonal skills to interface with UCSF leaders and other areas of human resources.
- Ability to work collaboratively with client groups and other areas of human resources and complete multiple assignments on time
- Capable to prioritize competing work assignments and meet deadlines
- Project management and market pricing skills
- Demonstrated experience evaluating risk and informing decision-making within a complex environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience consulting with leaders regarding compensation and its role in talent management
- Previous experience working in a union environment
- Previous experience in a large Academic Medical Center environment
- Experience with Oracle People Soft, Cognos reporting, MarketPay and Salesforce CRM
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
