Position Overview:

The Senior Construction Estimator will play a critical role in our company, overseeing the estimating team and ensuring accurate, competitive, and comprehensive project estimates. This position requires a deep understanding of the commercial interior construction industry, excellent mentorship and training skills, and the ability to cultivate strong relationships with subcontractors and clients. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in estimating and a proven track record of successful project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentorship & Training: Lead, mentor, and train junior estimators, ensuring the team maintains high standards of accuracy and efficiency
  • Estimating: Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial interior projects, including materials, labor, and equipment. Review and analyze project specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
  • Relationship Building : Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients. Cultivate trust and collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure successful project execution
  • Bid Coordination : Manage the bid process from start to finish, including soliciting and evaluating subcontractor bids, and ensuring all estimates are thorough and competitive
  • Project Management Support : Work closely with project managers to provide ongoing cost analysis and support throughout the project lifecycle
  • Continuous Improvement : Stay current with industry trends, materials, and construction methods. Implement best practices in estimating and contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in commercial interiors General Contracting estimating in New York City
  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring a team of estimator
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulation
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
