How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Sr. System Engineer for the Engineering and Construction Turbo Division in Santa Ana is responsible for designing and overseeing the development of critical systems, such as lube oil and seal gas systems, while adhering to safety and engineering standards. Key duties include creating submittal drawings (P&IDs, ICD, GAD), establishing process flow diagrams (PFDs), and selecting equipment such as pumps, valves, and heat exchangers. The engineer will participate in design reviews, contribute to global development efforts, and provide technical support during fabrication, commissioning, and plant start-up. Expertise in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, fluid dynamics, and industry standards (ASME, API, ANSI) is essential, along with strong problem-solving skills and experience working with rotating equipment in a manufacturing environment. The role requires the ability to work under pressure, independently, and in a multicultural environment.

Job Summary:

The Sr. System Engineer will play a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems for turbo expander assemblies, specifically focusing on the lube oil and seal gas systems. This position is tasked with ensuring that all design efforts meet or exceed company safety standards and comply with both local and global engineering guidelines. The role demands a comprehensive understanding of mechanical design, system integration, and fluid dynamics, as well as strong proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and adherence to industry standards such as ASME, API, and ANSI.

The Sr. System Engineer will also be responsible for creating technical deliverables, conducting design reviews, and collaborating with the project management and engineering teams to meet project deadlines. This role will support fabrication, testing, and commissioning efforts, as well as capitalize on previous projects' knowledge to optimize future designs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Design & Documentation:

  • Create and review submittal drawings such as Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Interface Control Documents (ICD), and General Arrangement Drawings (GAD) for lube oil systems, seal gas systems, and related rotating equipment.
  • Develop system assembly drawings and support material, heat, and energy balances to guide the development of these systems.
  • Size and select main system components, including equipment such as pumps, valves, relief valves, heat exchangers, accumulators, and flow meters.

Technical & Project Involvement:

  • Work closely with the project management team to ensure system designs align with customer specifications, industry standards, and project goals.
  • Participate in and lead design reviews, including Process Design Basis (PDB) meetings, PFD reviews, P&ID reviews, and Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) assessments.
  • Assist in the evaluation of technical offers for key equipment and provide insights into material selection and mechanical design decisions.

Support in Fabrication & Testing:

  • Provide technical support to the shop during the fabrication phase to ensure systems are built according to design specifications and quality standards.
  • Participate in plant commissioning, system start-up, and performance testing to ensure successful project execution and operator training.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during commissioning or start-up, collaborating with the commissioning and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of systems.

Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Sharing:

  • Leverage experience from previous projects and commissioning issues to implement improvements in system design and development.
  • Actively contribute to local and global Engineering & Construction (E&C) development efforts by sharing best practices, lessons learned, and innovative design solutions.
  • Stay up to date on advancements in industry standards, mechanical design, and system engineering to continuously improve system designs.

Additional Responsibilities:
