$14.42 per hour plus 20% service charge plus tips (or current CO min wage) / hr + 20% service charge + tips.
Range of 43.65/hr (for basic 50min massage) to 50.65/hr+ (for a deluxe 50min ex: with Hot stones and CBD add-ons).
Summary
The Massage Therapist is responsible for providing a unique and outstanding spa experience through the administration of high-quality, professional services of massage therapy, body treatments to guests of the spa. They are also expected to adhere to service standards and protocols put forth by the Lead Massage Therapist and Spa Management.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 550 hours of accredited massage education required.
- Diploma or certification from accredited school of massage/body work required.
- Current Colorado State license required, valid and in good standing.
- Current Liability Insurance coverage required.
- Certified with the NCBTMB or AOMBTA preferred.
- 2-years' experience in massage therapy preferred.
- 1-year spa experience preferred.
- NMT certification desired.
- Knowledge of additional spa and/or bodywork therapies desired.
- CPR Certification desired.
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all levels of associates and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by associates and guests.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize functions to meet deadlines.
- Approach all guests and associates in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner and maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
- Attend all required meetings and trainings.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with departmental standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the operation.
- Comply with departmental and property standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
- Must be able to show initiative including anticipating guest or operational needs.
- Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
- Must be able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
- Hygiene is key in this environment due to the close proximity of working with the clients. At no time is cigarette smoke allowed to be on the hands, clothes or breath of a spa employee during a shift.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
- Must, at all times, be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow associates.
- Maintain valid professional licenses (in good standing) and insurance requirements as set forth by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
- Must be able to masterfully perform various types of massage therapy techniques; i.e. Swedish, Sports, Deep Tissue, Pre-Natal, Hot Stone, etc.
- Must be proficient in all components of massage therapy; i.e. anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, contraindications, allergies etc.
- Must be proficient in a variety of body treatments; i.e. exfoliation scrubs, masks, wraps, etc.
- Must be familiar with contraindications of the skin and products to be placed on the skin.
- Perform service consultation, skin analysis and verbal communication with all guests.
- Know essential oils, their actions and reactions in terms of relaxation, stimulation, circulation, etc.
- Ensure inventory control through proper usage of products and adhering to service protocols.
- Educate guests on the effectiveness of self-care products they can purchase at the spa for use at home.
- Promote and sell Alluvia Spa approved facial and body products using prescription pad.
- Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the facilities including ensuring facility/amenities are in proper working order.
- Prepare treatment rooms, clean after each treatment, and maintain inventory levels of linens and supplies.
- Fold towels and linens for use in the service area.
- Provide Spa tours as necessary.
- Check appointment schedule regularly throughout shift for fluctuation in operational needs.
- Demonstrate effective time management through maintaining proper attendance and beginning/ending guests service(s) on time.
- Maintain passing scores on treatment inspections.
- Help train fellow technicians on techniques and treatments, as assigned by Spa Manger or Lead Massage Therapist.
- Assist with front desk or locker room functions, as necessary.
