Since 1919, Easterseals has been serving the community providing help, hope and answers for our neighbors challenged by physical, mental, or emotional health issues.

Easterseals DC MD VA ( is the affiliate serving Washington DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. We deliver exceptional services through a network of 10 sites providing Adult Medical Day Care, Early Child Development and Education (including Head Start), Therapy, Respite, Behavioral Health Care, and Workforce Development services.

Position Summary

Reporting to the organization’s President & CEO, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a key member of, and strong business partner to, the executive leadership team. The CFO will lead the production of accurate and timely financial reports and collaborate with the leadership team to make sound and informed business decisions.

The CFO leads both the strategy and the day-to-day operations of ESDCMDVA’s finance and accounting function. This individual also enhances the leadership team’s understanding of the financial performance of each program area. Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Oversee the flawless management of all financial systems and operations
  1. Manage all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, and ensure compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, IRS and regulatory requirements.
  2. Maintain internal control safeguards and coordinate all audit activities.
  3. Monitor and adjust ESDCMDVA’s financial policies.
  4. Direct the formulation of the annual budget and track organizational performance against budget.
  5. Manage cash flow and forecasting.
  6. Steward restricted funds accounting.
• Deliver sound financial reporting that supports appropriate strategic decision making
  1. Provide financial and operational information to the leadership team and make actionable recommendations.
  2. Engage the organization’s Finance Committee and Board of Directors in productive discussions.
  3. Oversee long-term financial planning and investments.
• Lead the finance team
  1. Direct the finance staff and oversee all accounting functions.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA and/or CPA preferred.
• A minimum of seven years’ experience in financial management.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Proven ability to lead a team to achieving ambitious goals.
• Experience developing and monitoring financial budgets.
• Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple time-sensitive projects.
