Our Parsons Atlanta office in Peachtree Corners is now hiring for an experienced Senior / Principal Traffic Engineer. Come join an amazing team working on very complex projects!

Opportunity:

The Senior Traffic Engineer performs conventional and moderately complex engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline. The Engineer at this level is proficient in the utilization of standard engineering theories and practices, and company procedures.

Qualified candidates should have a familiarity with MUTCD and AASHTO. Candidate will also need the ability to prepare traffic impact studies; develop and assess design and/or operational alternatives; and develop Transportation Management Plans (TMPs) in accordance with local, state and federal policies and requirements. Willingness to travel to supplier, client, or construction site locations is expected. This is an office-based role (5 days weekly), and does not provide for hybrid remote working.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Have good understanding of traffic signal design with the ability to prepare signal design plans and quantities independently;
  • Proficiency with the methodologies of Highway Capacity Manual (HCM), Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and Signal Warrant studies;
  • Work with a team of engineers and technicians designing and producing a variety of traffic engineering plans and reports;
  • Experience in analysis, design and implementation of projects such as corridor studies, traffic impact studies, alternative intersection design, traffic operational analysis, traffic signal design, signal timing, signing, striping, lighting and traffic control plans;
  • Provides support for other engineering activities as required. May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance;
  • May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a lead engineer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate-size project;
  • Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project;
  • Follow Parsons quality management plan to implement QA/QC procedures;
  • Experience interacting with GDOT is preferred, including Intersection Control Evaluation (ICE) Analyses and signal permitting process.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a 4-year degree in Engineering (or related field);
  • 8 years or more of related work experience;
  • Professional Engineer License (PE) is required;
  • Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with traffic engineering is required;
  • Microstation or AutoCAD proficiency is a must;
  • SYCHRO, HCS, VISSIM and SIDRA combination of expertise is required;
  • Signal design experience is also desirable;
  • Experience with GDOT's Intersection Control Evaluation (ICE) Analyses and signal permitting process is a plus, but not required.

Salary Range: $83,300.00 - $168,700.00
