Overall Purpose

Under direct supervision, supports the development, testing and maintenance of infrastructure as code and containerized product applications. Collaborates with other DevOps Engineers to gain exposure in design concepts and newer technologies.

Essential Functions

  • Assists with basic developing, testing, and documenting application code based on predefined patterns in collaboration with DevOps Engineers.
  • Expands and develops knowledge with exposure to current and upcoming implementations.
  • Participates on work teams, contributes to projects and initiatives, and performs various tasks as needed by the assigned unit/department.
  • Works as a member of a team providing service to internal and external customers; troubleshoots basic issues. Escalates more complex issues to Sr. DevOps Engineers.
  • Supports the development life cycle including requirements analysis and design.
  • Support and document software functionality.
  • Participate in developing, documenting, testing, and debugging new and existing configuration management (Chef and Ansible) and Infrastructure as code.
  • Proactively monitors health of environment.
  • Help maintain inventory of infrastructure.
  • Participate in and follow change management processes.
  • Supports Sr. DevOps Engineers to evaluate new technologies for implementation.
  • Support to UAT/production applications as needed.
  • Support the company’s commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or specialized training/certification or equivalent combined work experience, education, and training.
  • A minimum of 3 months DevOps, software engineering or related work/ intern/ course experience is required.
  • Proven technical and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate business acumen with knowledge and understanding of business issues, priorities, goals, and strategy is necessary.
  • Ability to identify basic to moderately complex problems, review information to develop and evaluate options then implement solutions is essential.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Highly engaged, self-starter with ability to balance achieving results and fostering collaboration.
  • Must be able to work different schedules as part of an on-call rotation.
  • Solid understanding of an iterative software development process.
  • Ability to use Unix/Linux command line programs and create/edit scripts.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the tools – Chef, Ansible, puppet.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the tools – IAC, Containerization, and orchestration (Terraform, Docker & Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of one of the cloud infrastructure providers – AWS, GCP and Azure.
  • Must be US Citizen or US National only.
  • Background and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
  • Academic knowledge or Software development experience in one of the programming languages - Java, Python, & PowerShell.
  • Good Knowledge of AWS infrastructure.
  • Good knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP/s, and comfortable working in Linux based environment.
  • Understanding of DevOps tools (Ansible, Terraform).

The Pay Scale For This Position In Phoenix, AZ

in USD per year is: $35-40/hr. ($70k-80k/year). Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.
