Denver International Airport is seeking an Assistant Director of Operations – Ramp Tower to join the Airport Operations team. This position reports to the Director of Operations and provides management and direction for all policy and procedural changes. As Assistant Director you will be the primary point of contact with the air carriers for gate management, deice operations and operational procedures in the non-movement area. You will be responsible for and work closely with leaders across DEN divisions, the FAA, and our airline customers for safe and efficient movement of aircraft in the non-movement area. Your responsibilities will also include the planning and management of the Ramp Tower operations budget. A strong leader with effective communication skills and the ability to build and maintain solid working relationships is key to this challenging and fast paced environment.

Additional responsibilities include:

  1. Aligning airport and divisional strategic goals by providing and analyzing metrics.
  2. Providing administrative direction, leadership, and technical expertise, as well as developing long range and short-term planning initiatives and overall goals, objectives, and priorities for the Ramp Tower.
  3. Develop and improve relationships with stakeholders by encouraging, developing, and strengthening cooperation and leadership in inter-group relations and communications.
  4. Develop and implement staff training and development programs that provide opportunities for individual employee growth and long-range development of employees.
  5. Assist in developing and managing the budget for the Ramp Tower.
  6. Create and utilize reports for analysis of Ramp Tower performance.
  7. Develop and implement Lean process improvements. Identify waste and work with stakeholders to determine operational or other efficiencies for improving performance.
  8. Coach, mentor, and challenge staff. Champion continuous improvement, including devising new strategies and new opportunities. Lead staff development initiatives that include training, development, and succession planning.
  9. Assist in performance expectations and standards for all levels of employees to achieve or exceed performance metrics and prepare them for the future.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

About You

We realize your time is valuable so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following required minimum qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, Management or a related field.
  2. Three (3) years of experience of the type and at the level of Airport Operations Supervisor supporting field operations, managing staff, and writing policies in a medium or large hub civilian airport or military facility.
  3. One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.

FBI Background Check: FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.

Snow/ Emergency Duties: Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees can be required to work extended hours and/or shifts.

Position Salary Range: $101,244.00 - $167,053.00

Starting Pay: Education will be based on education and experience.
