LOCATIONS: To be determined
Plymouth-Canton is seeking to employ culturally responsive teachers who will be able to support and sustain equity-focused instruction for all learners. These educators create high achieving learning environments. They identify and systematically apply differentiated instruction and assessment that improves achievement for all learners from all racial groups.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Possess a master's degree in Social Work.
  2. Possess a valid Michigan Social Worker License.
  3. Possess or immediately qualify for full or temporary approval as a School Social Worker.
  4. Ability to assess student needs by the appropriate use of agency and school records through interviews of school personnel, family members and community resources, and by observation of the student.
  5. Ability to clearly interpret the results of diagnostic procedures to parents, schools and relevant others and to establish follow-up procedures for monitoring student progress.
  6. Assist in developing and establishing programs for children based upon results of diagnostic procedures.
  7. Understand and apply the concepts of child learning and development in any diagnostic, treatment or interpretive situation.
  8. Possess working knowledge of the special developmental and learning needs of students with IEP's.
  9. Communicate diagnostic data and intervention strategies in writing and orally to relevant individuals.
  10. Possess applicable working knowledge of casework and/or group work treatment procedures with children.
  11. Possess working knowledge of social emotional learning assessments and interventions.

  • Capable of nurturing the home-school-community relationship.
  • Proficient and knowledgeable in the core subject areas.
  • Able to provide a flexible, stable and pleasant learning environment that is student-centered while maintaining appropriate classroom management.
  • Familiarity with culturally relevant pedagogy and be able to include this pedagogy in his/her teaching practices.
  • Understanding of pertinent learning intervention practices, such as Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in professional learning communities.
  • Knowledge of and practical experience in research based instructional practices.
  • Knowledge and practice with formative and summative assessments to evaluate and improve student achievement.
  • Ability to implement school district curriculum with consistency.
  • Work closely with school leaders to analyze student assessment data and use data to inform instruction.
  • Collaborate in grade level teams to discuss student work, share best practices, and ensure student mastery of standards.
  • Form and maintain relationships with students' families.
  • Participate in on-going professional development in the spirit of continuous improvement.

EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Certificated Personnel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs such as boxes of books. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.
