Part-Time CDL Drivers

Second Baptist School is currently seeking PART-TIME CDL DRIVERS for the 2024-2025 school year.

• Reports To: Director of Athletics
• Compensation: Part-Time/Seasonal/Stipend

JOB SUMMARY

SBS bus drivers are responsible for safely transporting students to and from school-related events, such as sports and arts activities.

SCHEDULE OF ROLE

The schedule for this role will be dependent on extracurricular schedules, typically 10-20 hours per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Transport students in a safe and timely manner to and from school activities while following safety procedures and applicable regulations
• Operate and safely drive a school bus in both good and adverse weather and road/traffic conditions while transporting passengers to events
• Comply with traffic regulations while operating vehicles in a safe and courteous manner
• Communicate bus rules, safety and behavior requirements to passengers and address improper behavior immediately while using appropriate interpersonal communication skills
• Communicate with students’ parents to solve inappropriate or unsafe behavior, utilizing interpersonal communication skills
• Assist students and passengers in boarding and unloading the bus when necessary

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED

To perform this job successfully, candidates must have:

• Current CDL with passenger endorsement
• The ability to operate a vehicle with air brakes (preferred)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, showing professionalism in all interactions
• Skills in organizing resources, being detail-oriented, establishing priorities and working independently
