Join us at the cutting edge of Amazon's sustainability initiatives to work on environmental and social advancements to support Amazon's long term worldwide sustainability strategy. At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people.

The Worldwide Sustainability (WWS) organization capitalizes on Amazon’s scale and speed to build a more resilient and sustainable company. We manage our social and environmental impacts globally, and drive solutions that enable our customers, businesses, and the world to become more sustainable.

Amazon co-founded The Climate Pledge, our commitment to reach net-zero carbon across our global operations by 2040. As part of the Worldwide Environment team, Amazon's Worldwide Carbon team is dedicated to working across the company with our business units to make operational changes to accelerate solutions and decarbonize our businesses in service of The Climate Pledge.

This role will be responsible for creating a culture of insights within the WW Environment team, helping to shape decarbonization strategies through supplier and industry data analysis. This program leader will own the design of our supplier carbon assessment framework and be responsible for executing carbon assessments for our top suppliers with the support of our most important business units who directly engage suppliers. The output of these assessments will guide central Worldwide Sustainability teams and global business units to execute supplier engagements that help advance each supplier’s decarbonization journey. They will be responsible for scaling this framework through product requirements, ultimately aiming to embed supplier carbon assessments into procurement systems.

This program leader must be a self-starter with proven skills in driving high visibility initiatives with proven results. They must be a problem solver, able to drive change, and willing to work with and through others to be successful. This role will bring your proven analytical and project management capabilities to imagine, plan, implement and optimize our reach for decarbonization deep into our supply chain.

Key job responsibilities:

  • Develop a carbon assessment framework for suppliers to assess their carbon performance against our Supply Chain Standards
  • Work with procurement teams to embed supplier carbon assessments into the supplier evaluation and selection process (over time, ensuring they are weighted appropriately alongside traditional criteria like cost and quality)
  • Implement systems to track and report on supplier decarbonization progress
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with Supply Chain Standards, decarbonization targets and emissions reporting while identifying areas for improvement
  • Investigate the use of AI to automate and scale supplier assessments to support our broader supplier engagement work, including developing product requirements in partnership with Supply Chain Tech and Sustainability Science teams.

  • 5+ years of experience in a sustainability, supply chain, or data analysis role, preferably with a focus on supplier engagement and decarbonization initiatives

  • Deep understanding of sustainability concepts, greenhouse gas accounting, and supply chain decarbonization strategies.
  • Familiarity with relevant sustainability standards, regulations, and reporting frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol, CDP, SASB)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to executive-level stakeholders
